Understanding your bill
Why did I get an estimated bill when I submitted a reading just a few days ago?
Receiving an estimated bill even though you just submitted a reading usually means one of the following:
Rejected reading: Your reading was rejected by the networks. All electricity meter readings are submitted to ESB Networks and all gas meter readings are submitted to Gas Networks Ireland to be verified. Invalid readings are rejected and will not be applied to your bill. If your reading was rejected, please read our Meter Reading Guide to make sure you are reading your meter correctly.
Not in time: Your reading was not received in time. We can only accept meter readings up to 2 days before the end of your billing period. Your reading may have been submitted too late to be applied, meaning your bill will be estimated. If it is a valid reading, it will be reflected in your next billing period.
Estimated remaining days: We had to estimate the remaining days in your billing period. We may sometimes estimate the days between your meter read submission and the remaining days of your billing period. This doesn’t mean that your whole bill is estimated.
