Code of Practice on Smart Pay As You Go Customers

Smart Pay As You Go is a prepayment service available for customers who have an ESB Networks smart meter.

We'll ensure our customers understand out smart pay as you go meter charges.

Smart Pay As You Go meters are an easy way to pay for your electricity.

  1. No direct debit or security deposit
  2. It allows you to pay for your energy supply before you use it
  3. It can help you to manage arrears
  4. The meter provides detailed information about your electricity usage, giving you more control

When we activate a Smart Pay As You Go meter, we'll provide you with details of our electricity charges. We'll also let you know upfront of any additional charges in connection with Smart Pay As You Go meter(s) when you sign up.

We will provide you with instructions on how the Smart Pay As You Go meter operates.

You will receive a statement of your usage and top ups three times a year. If you build up a credit and wish to have this refunded at any point, please call our Customer Service team on 0818 81 22 20.
