24 Hour Meters

Standard meters are the most common and have one single row of numbers.

To read your meter

  1. Read the numbers from left to right, including any zero.
  2. Ignore any numbers after the decimal point or numbers in red. For example: the reading for this meter is 05812.
Dial (Clock) Meters

If you have a dial/clock meter it will have six dials. To take your meter reading, you'll need to read the five dials on the top row.

To read your Dial (Clock) meter:

  1. Read the digits from left to right.
  2. If one (or more) of the dials is between two numbers, round down to the lowest number. For Example, if the dial is between 2 and 1, round down to 1.
  3. Ignore any dials in red. For example: the reading for this meter is 12343.
Economy 7 (Day/Night) Meters

Economy 7 (Day/Night) Meters have two rows of numbers to separately record the electricity you use during the day and night respectively. These rows may be labelled as Day and Night, 1/I (Night) and 2/II (Day) or Low (Night) and Normal (Day).
