Am I eligible for an export payment?

Whether you are eligible to receive microgeneration payments depends on a number of factors. In all cases, you must have completed an NC6 form with ESB Networks to be eligible. You must also be an SSE Airtricity supply customer to receive an export payment from us.

Please check your meter type and the criteria set out below.

For homes with a smart meter already installed: You will receive a payment based on your metered export. Note that smart services do not need to be activated. The smart meter only needs to be installed in the premise.

For homes who have a meter type that is included in this phase of the smart meter roll-out: This includes non-smart 24 hour and Day/Night meters. These homes are currently part of ESB Networks roll-out plan. You will not receive a payment during the waiting period for ESB Networks to install your smart meter. If you accept the smart meter, your payment will commence from the date the smart meter is installed and will not be backdated.

You are not eligible for a payment if you have communicated to ESB Networks or your supplier that you will not accept a smart meter installation or if ESB Networks has made multiple attempts to install a smart meter for your home but has been unable to gain access to do so.

For homes with other meter types not included in the current phase of the smart meter roll-out such as prepayment meters: You will be paid based on based on a deemed export.

Please note, you won’t be entitled to export payment related to microgeneration until the eligibility requirements have been met.
