Microgeneration is the general term used to refer to small-scale generation of electricity from renewable technologies, such as solar PV, wind power and combined heat and power (CHP).

Thousands of Irish homes have already made the move to reduce their carbon footprint and save on their energy bills with microgeneration installs.

As an SSE climate ambassador, I was lucky to attend some key events in Belfast and Glasgow during the United Nations Climate Change Summit, COP26, in early November.

Now as the year ends and I look to the next steps on my own greener journey, I’d like to share my reflections on the climate crisis and the questions I brought to delegates and business leaders at COP26.

As a small island off the eastern edge of the Atlantic Ocean, Ireland will need to adapt to the risks inherent in the rising sea levels and global temperatures brought on through climate change.

There is no one size fits all solution to this global problem; however, there is a need for a united, concentrated effort to limit these impacts.
