Understanding your bill

How is my bill calculated?

Your bill is calculated by subtracting your previous reading from your present reading to work out how many units of electricity you have used.

For smart interval customers we receive 30-minute usage daily and this will be used to calculate your total usage for your billing period.

We then calculate your bill using the following tariffs and charges:

  • Units – the amount of electricity you have used from your previous bill to your present bill.
  • Standing charge – a daily charge which is calculated by the amount of days in your billing period.
  • PSO Levy – Public Service Obligation cost. This charge is calculated based on your MIC.
  • Capacity Charge – if applicable. Please visit ‘What is the Capacity Charge and how does it work?’ section for more information.
  • VAT – charged at 9% (effective until 30th April 2025)
